What is gold plated jewelry?
Gold plated is a great product for all those who are sensitive or allergic to metals. All of our stud posts, hooks and jump rings are constructed of a lead and nickel free brass, which is then plated in a thin layer of gold. We always strive to use 14K gold or higher to ensure a premium quality in our jewelry.
We have both gold plated and rose-gold plated available. We also, offer silver plated jewelry which is made the same way for those who can wear silver.
Our 4 Tips to Keep it Sparkling!
We recommend to make sure that your hands are free of lotions, make up and dirt before handling your plated jewelry.
It is best to remove any plated jewelry before taking a shower/bath to avoid accumulating build up from body washes, shampoo and conditioner. If you use any beach in your home, be sure to remove jewelry prior to use.
Do not swim in chlorine, or salt water pools while wearing plated jewelry (especially our fabric studs). High amounts of chlorine can permanently damage or discolour your jewelry.
Remove plated jewelry before exercising or when sweating profusely to prevent salts from damaging the gold and/or silver metals.
Step by Step Clean
To remove any body oils and/or dirt use a damp cloth ball, microfibre cloth or jewelry cloth to wipe down jewelry after each wearing. Allow to air dry before storing.
If pieces feel sticky or have visible residue, mix a cleaning solution of 1 cup warm water and 2-3 drops of dishwashing liquid. Be sure that the water is warm and not hot.
Place the jewelry in the cleaning solution and soak for 10 minutes. Be sure to only clean a few pieces at a time to avoid any possible scratching. (For our fabric studs, be sure that the fabric does not sit in any solution.)
When each piece is clean, rinse the jewelry in warm water and pat dry. It is best to use a lint free cloth and then to buff gently to return any shine that may have been lost.
